Discover the CAN in your food allergies
As someone with food allergies, do you ever have trouble finding recipes that fit your lifestyle? Do you have difficulty meeting people in your allergy community? Or ever say, "I can't eat that"? With the I Can Eat That app, say goodbye to your food allergy troubles. Let's eat!
PROJECT OVERVIEW
For my senior thesis, I investigated how an app can help connect people with food allergies. Roughly “32 million Americans…” including myself, have food allergies. While many resources give information on foods you can’t eat, many leave you with an empty plate, not informing you on things you can eat. Searching through recipes online can become long and frustrating. More importantly, food allergy journeys can be lonely especially if you start late in life or have a sensitivity that people aren't familiar with.
Creating a brand identity for the app allowed me to be innovative with organizing colors, illustrations, logo studies, typography, and messaging. Using Figma, I worked with the prototype, laying out the pages and seeing how it would function. The final result was “I Can Eat That,” an app that gives users with food allergies the chance to discover recipes, find swaps, chat, and create a community through shared allergens.
My goal for this project was to create an app that helped connect people with food allergies, and this project goes beyond what I thought was possible. I would like to add a product side to the app where users can find commonly used items for their food allergies, and add more motion to my characters.
